Application for Property Tax Penalty Waiver
Taxpayers have the right to request a cancellation of a penalty assessed on secured and unsecured property by the Treasurer and Tax Collector.
Taxpayers must submit their Application for property Tax Penalty Waiver (pdf) to San Francisco Tax Collector either by mailing the application to P.O.Box 7426, San Francisco, CA 94120 or delivering it to City Hall, Room 140, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, or via email as a PDF at Propertytax.Waiver@sfgov.org .
The application must provide the name, address, parcel number, email address, phone number and an explanation as to why a waiver is requested. Taxpayers are strongly encouraged to attach supporting documentation that substantiates their waiver request. The taxpayers must sign, under penalty of perjury, that all the information provided to the Tax Collector is true and correct.
Failure to submit the required documentation may result in delay in processing or denial of the tax penalty waiver application. All requests will be reviewed and best efforts made to notify the taxpayers within 4-6 weeks from submission.
No requests will be accepted verbally.
