Business Tax and Third Party Assessment Payment Methods


Online Payment

You may pay your Business Tax or Third Party Assessment obligations using a credit card, debit card or eCheck (Electronic Check).  The maximum online payment amount accepted is $5,000,000. Applicable service fees are listed below.





Credit Card

  2.55% of the total payment ($2.49 minimum)

Debit Card

Online or In Person

VISA Personal Debit, STAR, NYCE and PULSE, subject to your bank's participation.

Online or In Person

The maximum allowable amount to pay by e-check is $5,000,000.00. Not all accounts are acceptable for electronic payments. If you plan to use an account other than a standard bank checking account, check with your financial institution before submitting payment.   eCheck option is not available to corporate accounts that have ACH debit block and filters in place.


 The San Francisco Tax Collector does not receive any part of this service fee. This fee is non-refundable

ACH and Wire Transfers

Funds may be electronically transferred to the City and County of San Francisco’s account either through the Federal Wire System or ACH. Specific wiring instructions should be provided to your partnering bank. Click on this link to access a copy of the instructions.

Electronic transfers must be received by the San Francisco Tax Collector, on or before the deadline to avoid penalties, interest and other fees.


Payments made by Electronic Check (ACH) are not subject to service or processing fees. However, if your payment is returned as a result of a failed transaction or for any other reason, you may be subject to a $50 Returned Item Fee for all returned electronic checks.

Please Note:

You cannot pay with eCheck using your Savings Account.

In keying your checking account information, make sure that you are using the numbers from your physical check and not from your deposit slip.

Some types of checking accounts are not enabled for ACH transactions. Prior to submitting an electronic check payment, we recommend that you confirm with your financial institution that an electronic check submitted from your account will be approved for processing. Examples of checks not accepted for Electronic transactions are:

b. Credit Card Checks
c. Money Market Checks
d. Corporate Checks
e. 3rd Party Checks
f. Cashier’s Checks
g. Money Orders
h. Traveler's Checks
i. US Treasury Checks
j. Brokerage Account Checks

Payment in Person

You may pay your property taxes in person at the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector. We are located at:
