When a San Francisco resident dies and there are no family members able or willing to take care of his or her affairs, the Office of the Public Administrator will manage the estate. Monies deposited with the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector by the Public Administrator for which no heirs or beneficiaries have been identified.

If the funds remain unclaimed three years after publication with the San Francisco Treasurer & Tax Collector's Office, the funds will be transferred to the to the account of the San Francisco Treasurer & Tax Collector's Office.
