Banking Services for City Departments
The Banking Services Unit is the primary contact for all City department treasury services. The unit provides services, such as cash management, armored car, remote and vault deposits, lockbox services, and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance.
Investments
The Investment Division is responsible for managing and investing the City and County of San Francisco’s funds to ensure sufficient liquidity to meet all anticipated disbursements.
Municipal Banking Feasibility Task Force
The Municipal Bank Feasibility Task Force was formed to advise the Treasurer, the Mayor, the Board of Supervisors and relevant City Departments regarding the creation of a Municipal Public Bank.
Socially Responsible Banking
In 2011, San Francisco was one of the first jurisdictions to include social responsibility metrics in the City’s banking request for proposals (RFP). The 2021 banking RFP placed an even greater emphasis on Socially Responsible Banking by including social responsibility metrics in its assessment, selection, and ongoing work with banking partners.
